Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Monterey, California!

On California’s coastline, the spectacular Monterey Peninsula -- scenic wonder for more than 180 films, from Lassie Come Home to Basic Instinct -- also doubles as a multicultural backdrop from colonial times, attracting Mediterranean fishermen and Asian abalone divers and processors. Novelist John Steinbeck, born in Salinas, lived much of his life on the Monterey Peninsula, 120 miles south of San Francisco and 345 miles north of Los Angeles. Monterey County is divided regionally into Big Sur, North County, Salinas Valley, and the Monterey Peninsula, with 12 incorporated cities. Those include Monterey, Pebble Beach, Del Rey Oaks, and Carmel, where actor/director Clint Eastwood once served as mayor, where billboards, neon signs and hot dog stands are prohibited, and where quirky law requires permits to wear high heels. Home to Old Fisherman’s Wharf and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, other attractions include the National Steinbeck Center, Cannery Row, Big Sur, beaches, fishing, boating, and, of course, the famed 17-mile Drive through Pebble Beach, one of the nation’s nine private toll roads. Monterey County features more than 25 public and private golf courses playable year-round including the famed Spyglass, Poppy Hills, and Pebble Beach. Among more than 300 annual events, September’s Monterey Jazz Festival is the world’s longest continuously running jazz extravaganza. From five-star restaurants to award-winning wines, Monterey County is a gourmet food lovers' paradise, showcasing bounty of Monterey Bay, fresh fruits and vegetables from the Salinas Valley, and fine wines from throughout the region with more than 40 wineries producing nearly 100 labels. There are more than 300 facilities in Monterey County, and that includes the 9,000 and change at more than 200 on the peninsula.
